A man spends 2/5 of his salary on house rent
- 3/10 of his salary on conveyance
- 1/8 of his salary on the food
Let suppose total salary is “y”. So;
He spends 2y/5 on house rent
3y/10 spends on conveyance
y/8 spends on the food.
So, we have an equation 2y/5 + 3y/10 + y/8 + 1400 = y
Through this equation we can easily find out the value of “y” and expenditure on food and conveyance.
Expenditure on food and conveyance = ?
Total salary = y
Expense on house rent == 2y/5
Expense on conveyance = 3y/10
Expense on food = y/8
Left over amount (given) = 1400
Now; according to the given condition
2y/5 + 3y/10 + y/8 + 1400 = y
(16y + 12y + 5y + 56000)/40 = y
33y + 56000 = 40y
40y – 33y = 56000
7y = 56000
y = 56000/7
y = Rs. 8000
Expenditure on food = y/8 = 8000/8 = Rs. 1000 answer
Expenditure on conveyance = 3y/10 = 3(8000)/10 = Rs. 2400 answer
A man spends 2/5 of his salary on house rent, 3/10 of his salary on conveyance and 1/8 on the food. If he has 1400 left with him then expenditure on food and conveyance would be Rs. 1000 and Rs. 2400.
